Carlissia is an investor, strategist, and serial entrepreneur recognized for her work at the intersections of capital, culture, and democracy. After several years leading multiple funds, she founded EcoBridge Partners, where she partners with funders to design investment strategies, build equitable pipelines, and strengthen the connective tissue between funders and entrepreneurs.
Carlissia most recently served as President of New Media Ventures (NMV), a mission-driven venture fund and investor network that has mobilized more than $70M into early-stage media, civic tech, and organizing startups. Under her leadership, NMV backed more than 150 innovative companies—including well-recognized startups that have become pillars of the social change ecosystem. In 2024, she created and launched New Rising Ventures (NRV), as a nonpolitical venture vehicle for advancing public-interest startup technologies.
Her career spans nearly 20 years of leadership across government, philanthropy, and entrepreneurship. She has shaped billion-dollar technology and capital initiatives while serving in senior roles at the Obama White House, the U.S. Senate, the U.S. Departments of Agriculture (USDA) and Energy (DOE), and Planned Parenthood Federation of America. At DOE, she launched the inaugural Technology Commercialization Fund, directing multi-million dollar public investments to accelerate the commercial deployment of groundbreaking tax-funded technologies.
Today, Carlissia sits on multiple boards and investment committees, advises founders and funders across sectors, and continues to champion a future defined by responsible technology that benefits society at large.
